Day 1 | Drive to Kasese
Today you will transfer from your hotel to Kasese town for an overnight.
Day 2 | Nyakalengija (1615m) – Nyabitaba Hut (2651m)
You will report for the central circuit which starts at the Rwenzori Mountaineering Services offices at Nyakalengija. The trail passes through a farmland to the park boundary beyond which follows the Mubuku River, you may hear chimpanzees and see black and white colobus, blue monkey and the brilliantly coloured Rwenzori turaco.
Day 3 | Nyabitaba (2,651 m) to John Mate hut (3,505 m)
Today you continue to hike from Nyabitaba through the forest to the Kurt Shafer Bridge, found just below the junction of the Mubuku and Bujuku rivers. Standing at the Nyamileju rock shelter, Mount Stanley and Mount Speke can be seen before passing into the zone of the giant heather, lobelia and groundsel. You will spend the night at John Matte Hut.
Day 4 | John Matte (3505m) to Bujuku (3962m)
Today you ascend from John Matte Hut trail down to cross the Bujuku River, with views of Mt Baker to the South and Mt Stanley to the West. Bujuku Hut, well located in the shadow of Mount Baker and Mount Speke, is set in a narrow valley below Stuhlmann Pass. Dinner and overnight at Bujuku hut
Day 5 | Bujuku (3962m) to Elena Hut (4541m)
T0day's trail leads up to Elena Hut and Mount Stanley on a steep trail over large boulders, while the trail on your left leads to Scott-Elliot Pass and down to Kitandara Lakes the trail on he left leads those who are not climbing Margherita Peak to Kitandara Hut. You will spend a night at the Elena Hut.
Day 6 | Elena (4541m) to Margherita Peak (5109m) Kitandara Hut (4023m)
The climb to the summit of Margherita takes about 5-7 hours depending on the weather conditions Climbing on to the glaciers, cross the Stanley Plateau and proceed with the ascent. Acclimatized to fog, altitude sickness and coolly weather, scramble up to the summit of Margherita the highest peak of the Rwenzori. You will have a dinner and overnight at the Kitandara.
Day 7 | Kitandara (4023m) to Guy Yeoman (3505 m)
At this point you can view into the Congo to the west and Mount Stanley to the north. From the pass, take on the long trail passing the rock shelter at Bujongolo, you will spend the night here.
Day 8 | Guy Yeoman (3505 m) to Nyabitaba (2651m)
Today you will descend from Guy Yeoman to Nyabitaba, the route descends the cliffs of Kichuchu. Beyond Kichuchu the muddy path crosses the Mubuku River twice before climbing upwards to Nyabitaba to complete the circuit.
Day 9 | Nyabitaba (2651m) – Nyakalengija (1615m)
The descent from Nyabitaba to Nyakalengija takes 3 – 4 hours. Start hiking back and complete your trek by the evening. You will be welcomed back by your guide who will the drive your to your accommodation.
Day 10 | Drive to Entebbe
After an early morning breakfast, you will enjoy a long drive (approx 6 hours) to Entebbe traversing beautiful landscapes and communities, you will have a late checkin at the airport.
