History
Murchison falls located in the north western part of Uganda is the largest park in Uganda. Travelers who come to this place are always mesmerized by the Karuma falls ranked one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world. As you get to this site, you will witness an enchanting sight of the Nile River squeezing its self through a 6-meter gorge before falling 43meters below to form a trail of spray marked with a trademark rainbow. The falls comprises of several naturally flowing intertwining rock formations, a perfect view for nature fanatics. The water hitting the rocks gives breathtaking scenery that creates a great photographic experience for photographers.
The beauty and diversity of this park offer tourists the opportunity to be in contact with rich nature and unique wildlife species. All nature enthusiasts should be ready for the enthralling Budongo forest blessed with the splendid savannah landscape and stunningly grown Borassus palms a haven to various species. Despite being a natural habitat to the largest population of mountain gorillas; the park is home to 76 mammals, and about 451 birds. Here visitors will get to sight distinctive species like Rothschild giraffes, Chimpanzees, Buffalos, Oribis, Defassa waterbucks, Savannah Elephants, the Kobs, Raptors, Rock Pratincole, Crested Francolin, White-crested Turaco, White-headed Barbet, Narina Trogon, Red-throated Bee-eater, Silverbird, Red-cheeked Cordon Blue, Finches, etc.
